Discovered by Russian archaeologist Dr. Mikhail Ivanov in a remote Siberian village in 1878, these remains belong to an unknown extinct species morphologically similar to modern humans, which would have inhabited the region millions of years ago. Their unusual size and bone structure could have been the result of an adaptation to the extreme conditions of the Siberian Paleolithic. It is not known whether it is related to the human species or to other species discovered to date.

The second photo was taken upon arrival of the remains at the Museum of Natural Sciences in St. Petersburg.

Descubiertos por el arqueólogo ruso, Dr. Mikhail Ivanov, en un remoto pueblo de Siberia en 1878, estos restos pertenecen a una desconocida especie extinta morfológicamente similar al humano moderno, que habría habitado la región hace millones de años. Su inusual tamaño y estructura ósea podrían haber sido el resultado de una adaptación a las condiciones extremas del Paleolítico siberiano. Se desconoce si guarda alguna relación con la especie humana o con otras especies descubiertas hasta la actualidad.
